The Writing Center
The Writing Center, part of the Center for Writing and Speaking, is a twenty-four-hour hangout for writers. Our center offers students the opportunity to work in community with others; we believe that writing should not be the solitary ramblings of an author in a garret, but the written development of ideas honed and expanded through lively intellectual exchange. To this end, the Center offers the free services of tutors, trained collaborators who act as a sounding board for writers and thinkers. Our primary objective is to walk with students through the writing and critical thinking processes, assisting them in developing their ideas and deepening their thoughts. Students are welcome to come to the Writing Center at any state of the writing process: we welcome anything from vague thoughts to a final draft.
